Psychosocial Hazards in the Workplace: Understanding, Identifying and Managing the Risk of Suicide at Work (131200)

Jordan Jackson 1
  1. Comcare, East Perth, WA, Australia

Workplaces are not immune to the impacts of suicide and suicidal behaviours. Yet, psychosocial risks—such as bullying, isolation, poor change management, and exposure to trauma—remain under-identified and under-controlled. This interactive workshop, led by a subject matter expert in psychosocial regulation and workplace suicide, will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to understand, identify, and manage psychosocial hazards in line with legislative requirements and trauma-informed principles.

Drawing on regulatory guidance and real-world experience, the session will explore how psychosocial hazards contribute to suicidal ideation and behaviours, and how workplaces can take a proactive, risk-based approach to prevention. Participants will engage in group-based scenario analysis, polling, and collaborative problem-solving to build literacy in psychosocial risk management and develop practical strategies for their own contexts.
