In November of 2025 LivingWorks will roll out updated versions of their three core training programs – Start, safeTALK, and ASIST. All learners who successfully complete a course will gain access to the LivingWorks Connect platform and mobile app. The app was developed to empower learners to become effective helpers in their community through intervention supports, tools to facilitate finding and sharing of community-specific resources, and the option of recording reflections on each intervention delivered. Key functions will be highlighted with examples of how they can be used by helpers in any role within a community. The science supporting the program updates will be summarized as will the theory and research upon which the development of Connect is based. The ways in which Connect empowers implementation of a training system in communities leading to building and maintaining Networks of Safety will be discussed. Learnings from field trials of the updated training will be shared, illustrating feasibility and acceptability of the training system. Feedback from learners in the field trials which informed refinement of the program updates and Connect will be summarized. Data on early adoption of the training system will be presented as evidence of the potential reach of the Networks of Safety that can be built. The ways in which current and future Connect features can empower communities to become safer from suicide will be presented. Finally, the ways leaders and decision makers can gain data driven insights about the types of supports needed by people in their communities experiencing thoughts of suicide and then direct appropriate resources where the need is greatest will be discussed.
