Darren Wagner

Darren Wagner is a lived experience leader, educator, and reform advocate with more than a decade shaping mental health and suicide‑prevention systems across NSW Health, community services, and academia. As Peer Workforce Education Lead at HETI, he develops statewide peer workforce education, reflective supervision models, and trauma‑informed approaches to purposeful storytelling grounded in lived experience. Darren has contributed to major suicide‑prevention initiatives, held leadership roles in Non Government Organisations and Government mental health and suicide prevention services, and presented nationally and internationally, including at the University of Oxford and in Washington DC. A sought‑after keynote speaker and educator, he centres storytelling as a transformative practice that strengthens collaboration, advances rights‑based reform, and elevates lived experience as essential expertise in suicide prevention.
