Rachel Moriarty

Ko Rachel Moriarty tōku ingoa. No Ingarani, no Aerani oku tupuna. Kei Te Whanagnui-a-Tara ahau e noho ana. My name is Rachel Moriarty. My ancestors are from England and Ireland and I was born and live in Wellington, New Zealand. I’m a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience in mental health across primary, secondary, and private practice settings. For the past 20 years, I’ve specialised in suicide prevention and postvention, primarily supporting tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau connected to Oranga Tamariki (Child Protection Services). I’m passionate about supporting and empowering kaimahi/health and social support staff in their roles - helping them recognise and strengthen their own skills, experiences, and values to ensure the best and safest outcomes for the whaiora/people seeking wellness they work with. My approach combines deep listening, weaving together diverse sources of knowledge, and co-developing new ways to grow our offerings and keep our mahi/work current and responsive.
