Ambrose Mareng
Ambrose Mareng is the Founding Executive Director and General Manager of the Sudd Foundation, a community led organisation that supports African South Sudanese Australian communities. With more than 20 years of experience, Ambrose is a highly respected community leader who has worked alongside young people, families, mothers, elders, grassroots groups, and professional partners across government and non-government sectors. His work centres on mental health and wellbeing, suicide and self-harm prevention, and addressing the underlying causes of youth violence, unemployment, cultural identity challenges, language barriers, and disengagement from mainstream services. Ambrose established the Sudd Foundation to ensure community voices, especially those of young people, are heard and valued in decision making that affects their lives. Through this work, he champion’s genuine collaboration between communities and service providers, helping to build trust, improve access to support, and promote successful integration, social inclusion, and active citizenship for South Sudanese Australians across the country.
