Hunena is the Head of Community Partnerships at Roses in the Ocean. With over 15 years of experience in working in the NGO sector as a Mental Health Professional and Community Partnerships Specialist, Hunena brings extensive experience in leading capacity building community initiatives focused on social justice, suicide prevention, and improving mental health outcomes for marginalised and minority communities. Hunena’s Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background informs her dedication to recognising and responding to the unique challenges faced by diverse communities, with a focus on improving accessibility and equity in care. Hunena has worked across a broad range of sectors including health promotion, counselling, homelessness services, correctional settings, acute mental health care and community development. Hunena brings a holistic, inclusive approach to suicide prevention and mental health advocacy, grounded in lived experience, cultural insight, and a deep commitment to systemic change.
