Beverley Seeney
Bev Seeney is a passionate advocate for mental health and suicide prevention, with significant lived experience of trauma and suicide. Her journey of healing is deeply intertwined with the mission of Black Dog Ride. Bev's story is one of resilience and inspiration, as she hopes to encourage others to seek help and believe in the possibility of healing.
Aged 13, Bev won a university scholarship but without any parental approval, her education ended. At 43 Bev rekindled her education after years of sexual abuse, rape, and suicide attempts. In 1998, she won another scholarship to university. Bev studied Psychology then became a Certified Hakomi Psychotherapist. She joined Black Dog Ride, became WA State Coordinator then transitioned to Board Director in 2022. Bev shares her experiences to demonstrate that positive outcomes are possible.
She believes in the power of lived experience to inspire and support those struggling with mental health challenges.
